Abstract
In 1942 Singapore, Canadian seaman Harry Winslow falls madly in love with Lily, a young Englishwoman. They are separated during an air raid and Harry begins a desperate search for her. Years later, in her dying moments, Lily reveals an astonishing secret. Harry journeys to Thailand, piecing together the events of past years.
