Barry Monteith is barely alive when Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen finds him lying on the ground. His throat is ripped open, the jugular severed, and he is gurgling his last breaths. The obvious explanation is a wild animal attack. But there are no tracks of every kind surrounding the body. Even more preplexing, tiger cat Mrs. Murphy and her animal pals can't detect the scent of any possible attackers.

When a faculty member of the local prep school is murdered, the headmistress and "Sister" Jane Arnold, master of the foxhounds at Virginia's Jefferson Hunt Club, work together to uncover a killer. It seems the slaying may have been politically motivated, as students were demonstrating to call attention to the role of slavery in the school's past. With the annual hunt ball approaching, the 70-something Sister already has plenty on her plate. Does she have time to catch a murderer?

"Sister" Jane Arnold, master of the Jefferson Hunt Club, must contend with unruly Crawford Howard, who purchase his own pack of hounds and establishes a rival club. Then, things really get interesting. During the audit of a local company, millions of dollars are reported missing. It's not long before there's a body count connected to the missing money--and the violence hits a little too close to home for Sister's liking.

When the dead body of building contractor H.H. Donaldson is found in the parking lot during a basketball game, felines Mrs. Murphy and Pewter, along with Tee Tucker the Corgi, know just what will happen next. Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen can't help but try to solve the puzzle. Who could be the killer? Is it a mistress, an archrival, or Donaldson's ailing wife? Soon Harry can't trust anyone. Leave it to Mrs. Murphy and her gang to lead Harry right to the missing piece.

The famous Saddlebred show in Shelbyville, Kentucky, is the perfect opportunity for remarried newlyweds Harry and Fair Haristeen to finally go on their long-delayed (second) honeymoon-a chance to combine business and pleasure, as well as to drop in on some old friends. Mrs. Murphy (a tabby cat), Tucker (a Corgi), and Pewter (a fat gray kitty) are all along for the trip as well, and when their hosts are robbed the very first day they arrive, Mrs. Murphy pounces right on solving the mystery.

Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen and her cats Mrs. Murphy and Pewter are on the case when two people are found murdered during her 20th high school reunion.

When Baxter the wirehaired dachshund and his owner Mags leave New York for Nevada, they find themselves embroiled in a real head scratcher. First, the local water-pumping station is sabotaged. Then, a murdered man's bones--dating back to the 1800s--are unearthed in a barn owned by Mags' great-aunt. As Mags attempts to put the pieces together, Baxter readies himself to protect her at all costs.

The New Year's Day festivities of the Jefferson Hunt are just about to pick up. But then it rains on everybody's parade when Sam Lorillard is found stabbed to death at the old train station. As the investigation proceeds, what was initially thought to be an unrelated scandal at a neighboring club soon seems to be much more.

The sleepy little town of Crozet, Virginiahas seen its share of mischief and mayhem, but nothing like this. While visiting the Mt. Carmel monastery, Mary Minor "Harry" Haristeen witnesses a statue of the Virgin Mary cry tears of blood. Legend says this fortells crises, and soon a monk is found frozen to death near the statue. Before long the monk's body disappears, another Crozet citizen dies, and a shocking revelation to an ages-old mystery surfaces. Thankfully, Harry and her sleuthing animals are on the case--unofficially, or course.

When a rare set of hubcaps is stolen, it seems like a harmless offense, until the suspected theif is found hanged in the woods. Soon the body count rises, forcing Harry to divide her time between getting to the bottom of the malfeasance and dating a handsome visitor from Uraguay.
