Widower Jick McCaskill, his daughter Mariah, and Mariah's ex-husband Riley take a road trip back and forth across Montana. As Jick recounts his memories of the area, Riley and Mariah fall in and out of love--and Jick unexpectedly discovers a new partner.

Career jounalist Marge Hairston and her three loving children, Drogan, Cassie, and Sharon, are about as close as a family can be. After her husband died, Marge was left to raise the children on her own. She persevered, while at the same time bringing The Woodmore Times notoriety as North Carolina's premier African-American newspaper. But when she becomes seriously ill, her children are faced with the hardship of honoring their mother's legacy.

Sales executive Chantell Meyers has life all figured out. "People treat you better when they think you have money, or are beautiful." Chantell has it all, too--a great career, beautiful clothes, lots of spending money, a cool car, and a picture-perfect fiancée. So why is she so unhappy? She promises God that she will become a better person as her father lays on his deathbed. But, keeping that promise unravels Chantell's seemingly perfect life.

Trouble is brewing in the sleepy hamlet of Morning Shade. Multiple chain letters are circulating throughout town, and a local resident is to blame. Little old ladies are being victimized by empty promises of vast riches and rejuvenated health. Fortunately, the plucky Stella Diamond is on the case.
